Q. What does the THINK Summer Institute cost? 
Tuition of $2700 covers course credits, room, board, and the cost of the planned program activities. Additionally, participants are responsible for textbooks, transportation to and from the program, and pocket money. Scholarships based upon financial need are available.
Q. When is the 2008 THINK Summer Institute?
This program takes place July 12-August 2.
Q. How do I apply?
The application deadline is June 6, 2008. Please visit the THINK Application & Selection Process page. There is a $50 non-refundable application fee.
Q. How are students selected to attend the THINK Summer Institute?
Due to the intense nature of the program, the THINK Summer Institute is limited to sixty students. Selection of applicants is made by a joint committee of the Davidson Institute for Talent Development and the University of Nevada, Reno. Applicants must demonstrate both exceptional ability and the potential to benefit from the course offerings, as well as the social and emotional maturity and organizational skills to thrive in this three-week residential environment.
Q. When will students be notified if they have been accepted?
You will be notified within one month after your application is complete. Applications are considered complete when all components have been received and notification has been sent by the THINK Summer Institute.
Q. Where will the courses be taught?
All courses are taught by university faculty on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
Q. Where will the students reside?
Each participant shares a room and bathroom with another same-gender student on a private, locked floor in the University's newest residence hall. All students are supervised by THINK staff members 24 hours a day.
Q. Can I go home on the weekends?
This program is an intense academic residential experience. As such, students are expected to remain on campus for the full three weeks and are expected to fully participate in all courses and activities. Only those who are interested in an intense full-immersion college learning experience should apply.
Q. How do I qualify for the THINK Summer Institute?
To be eligible for the 2008 THINK Summer Institute, applicants must be 13-16 years old and be a U.S. citizen or Permanent U.S. resident living in the United States. Applicants must also submit a qualifying score (see chart below) on the SAT or ACT. In order to meet the application deadline, it is recommended applicants take the SAT no later than December 1, 2007 or the ACT no later than December 8, 2007.

Q. Can homeschooled students participate?
Yes. Students who are being homeschooled are eligible, provided they meet the qualifications.
