At the THINK Summer Institute, you will take one course in the morning and one course in the afternoon. These courses are taught by faculty members of the University of Nevada, Reno. All credits earned are transferable.

Morning Course Options

English 223: Themes of Literature: Science & Medicine
This course is an exploration of books and essays with attention to interpretation and argument. It involves both creative and expository writing covering areas of historical and contemporary topics in Science and Medicine as well as examines the literature and practice of these disciplines.
Credits: Three

Economics 220: Introduction to Economic Theory & Policy
Survey of major macroeconomic and microeconomic theories, with emphasis on their application to individual, business and governmental decisions. (aka HON 220)
Credits: Three
Prerequisite: None.

Computer Science 105: Introduction to Computing
Intro to essential concepts and practices in computing. Design, assemble, and operate basic computer hardware and software in a collaborative environment.
Prerequisite: None

Afternoon Course Options

Mathematics 120: Fundamentals Of College Mathematics
3 Sets, logic; probability, statistics; consumer mathematics; variation; geometry and trigonometry for measurement; linear, quadratic, exponential and logarithmic functions. Emphasis on problem solving and applications.
Credits: Three
Prerequisite: Satisfactory score on SAT (510 on Math section), ACT (21 on Math section) and must have completed Algebra I or equivalent. Must submit copy of school transcript.

Geology 101: General Geology
Fundamental principles of geology: tectonics, oceans, atmosphere, resources, climate. Lab component included.

Psychology 101: General Psychology
Presents psychology as a science concerned with the actions of organisms in a social and cultural context.
